No 23 Of Studying Abroad 论出国留学
Dear editor,
I’m Xie Lei. Last year, to obtain a business qualification and qualify myself to enter a firm, I participated in a year-long exchange programme. Recalling my experience, I’d like to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad.
敬爱的编辑，
我是谢蕾。去年为获得一张商务证书以有资格进入一家公司，我参加了为期一年的交换生项目。回想我的经历，我想谈谈出国留学的优缺点。
For one thing, as far as I know, we can strengthen personal competence with the guidance of advisors and tutors. Throughout adaptation to new surroundings, I learnt to acknowledge when citing, speak up when giving presentations, becoming more motivated, optimistic, and ambitious. Furthermore, exposure to another culture and cooperation with people from diverse cultural backgrounds give us insights to view the world from different angles. We become cultural envoys or messengers with global perspectives and outlook, promoting the Belt and Road Initiative.
一方面，在我看来，我们可以在顾问和导师的指导下增强个人竞争力。在适应新环境的过程中，我学会了在引用时鸣谢，在做陈述时大声发言，变得更加有动力，更乐观，更有理想。此外，接触另一种文化以及与不同文化背景的人们合作赋予了我们从不同角度观察世界的洞察力。我们成为了拥有全球视野和眼界的文化使者或信使，推动了“一带一路”的倡议。
For another, generally speaking, international students will face tremendous pressure. To begin with, tuition fees and living expenses will end up costing most families an arm and a leg. Besides, for those not mature enough, stepping out of comfort zone to suffer from overwhelming homesickness, tight budget, culture shock and complex academic requirements is so depressing that they can’t adapt to new setting or engage in grasping knowledge. Not feeling at home, they can’t behave confidently when getting involved in/with social activities. I suppose their final outcome is departure.
另一方面，通常来说，国际生将面临巨大的压力。首先，学费和生活开支最终花大多数家庭一大笔钱。此外，对于那些不够成熟的学生来说，走出舒适区去经受难以克服的想家，紧张的预算，文化冲击，以及复杂的学术要求是如此的令人沮丧，以至于他们不能适应新环境，不能专注于掌握知识。他们在参加社交活动时举止不自信。我认为他们最终的结果是离开。
To sum up, as far as I am concerned, one cannot deny the fact that studying abroad makes us more competent to achieve ambition and contributes to the dramatic boom of Chinese economy. Nevertheless, you should maintain reasonable expectations and make logical judgements before being applicant. Do you side with my views? Expecting your reply in later edition.

总之，在我看来，我们不能否认这一事实——出国留学让我们更有能力实现理想并促进了中国经济的迅速繁荣。然而，在成为申请者之前，你应该保持合理的期待并做出符合逻辑的判断。你支持我的观点吗？期待你在下一版（杂志）中的回复。
